G-CSF is a new medical technology that Bedaya hospital has adopted lately for its beneficial role in IVF and ICSI. The technology of G-CSF injection works by stimulating white blood cells in the woman's body to treat Endometrial thickness. The thickness of the lining of the uterus is one of the most important factors that contribute to the success of pregnancy, and any defect in it may lead to miscarriage. Fortunately, with the development of science and modern technologies, many treatments have been available that address everything related to the causes of infertility and delayed pregnancy for both sexes. Bedaya Hospital keeps pace with these developments and is keen to provide all medical services that improve the success rate of assisted fertilization operations, such as magnetic-activated cell sorting, lymphocyte immunotherapy, and Intracytoplasmic Morphologically Selected Sperm Injection.

G-CSF injection

What is G-CSF injection? G-CSF stands for Granulocyte Colony-Stimulating Factor. This type of growth factor injection stimulates white blood cell procurement from the bone marrow, and it was first injected into cancer patients after receiving chemotherapy to increase their white blood cells and immune system to save them from infections and fevers. G-CSF injections are not only useful for cancer patients but can help women to develop healthy Endometrial.

G-CSF injection uses

What are G-CSF injection uses? G-CSF is used for women who have persistent thin endometrium and have been miscarrying after IVF and ICSI procedures. Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor is usually injected under the skin, and sometimes it can be taken as a bloodstream drip. The treatment is used to speed the blood flow into the womb and increase white blood production to create thick endometrium able to hold the embryo. The normal thickness of endometrial changes according to different timing of the menstrual cycle:

- During menstruation, the lining becomes very thin (4mm)

- From day 4 to the preovulatory period, the thickness of the lining is about 11 mm.

As for the period after ovulation, the lining of the uterus is in its thickest stage, as it is between 14 to 16 millimeters in preparation for pregnancy during this period.

G-CSF injection in IVF

G-CSF injection in IVF increases the success rate of the procedure. It makes the endometrial thick and healthy enough for the embryo to be implemented. Granulocyte colony stimulating factor is used not only in IVF but also in ICSI and should be injected twice, before and after the procedure.

G-CSF injection side effect

G-CSF injection side effect is not common but they include:

- Muscle and joint pain.

- Fatigue and tiredness.

- Nosebleeding or bruising.

- Fever or high temperature.

- Thinning of the hair.

- Back pain.

If you or someone you know is affected by failing attempts of ICSI, this video serves as a beacon of hope, offering valuable insights and resources. Let's give some attention to this warrior lady called Gamila as she faces physical pain and mental\emotional stress during her many attempts through ICSI for 15 years. Mrs. Gamila and her husband Mr. Ashraf were guided by a friend to Bedaya Hospital where they finally had a successful ICSI. We hope that this video will not only educate but also foster a sense of community among those touched by unsuccessful ICSI before.
