Micropenis Treatment
content_table

Micropenis treatment is treating a condition usually diagnosed in newborns during the standard post-birth examination. These babies have a structurally normal but unusually small penis. Causes of a micropenis can be genetic or due to hormonal disturbances. Nowadays these cases are mostly diagnosed and treated very early in life but in men where that has not happened, or the diagnosis was query as a child Bedaya Hospital offers several solutions. It is important to treat micropenis even if the sexual performance is normal and there are no symptoms of erectile dysfunction or premature ejaculation because it can negatively influence the male self-image.

Men believe that the penis length increases a woman’s pleasure during sexual intercourse. Bedaya Hospital offers micropenis treatment by the release of the suspensory ligament, medically this is called ligamentolysis and the penis appears longer after. Cutting through the suspensory ligament. This ligament connects the penis to the pubic bone. Bedaya Hospital has a team of skilled surgeons with the expertise to treat micropenis apart from ligamentolysis we also perform penile fat transfers.

Micropenis causes

The most common micropenis causes are hormonal imbalances that cause a fetal testosterone deficiency. The one that occurs most is hypogonadotropic hypogonadism in these cases the hypothalamus (a part of the brain that controls the pituitary) does not/or does not sufficiently excrete (FSH and LH) which are necessary to produce testosterone in the male testicles. Testosterone is essential for normal maturation and reproductive function of the penis.

Micropenis can also be the result of genetic syndromes, malformations or have an unknown reason (idiopathic).

Micropenis Diagnosis

A micropenis is usually diagnosed right after birth or during childhood through a routine development checkup where the penile length is measured. Normal penile length at birth is 3.5 cm. Micropenis is diagnosed when the penis is less than 1.9 cm.

During development micropenis is diagnosed when the penis length is less than 2.5 standard deviation below the mean.

Micropenis treatment

Men often have the delusional thought that their penis length is below average due to influences of social media and pornographic material. Bedaya Hospital advices you to seek the help of a specialist if you believe you might have micropenis and not diagnose yourself.

The treatment of micropenis depends on the underlying reason of the condition. If diagnosed in childhood the first line of treatment is a short course of hormonal therapy where testosterone is given either in the form of injections or locally in the form of an ointment or cream, if this does not add enough length to the penis other hormonal treatments could be tried. If medical treatments fail to reach the desired results micropenis surgery in the form of surgical reconstruction is an option worth considering. Several reconstructive surgeries (phalloplasty) are available for micropenis treatment. Your doctor will discuss these with you when necessary.

  • Hyaluronic acid injection (filler)
  • Fat transfer
  • Micropenis treatment by release of suspensory ligament.

Micropenis surgery

Micropenis surgery does not only correct the penile size but can improve urination and increase sexual pleasure due to psychological reasons above anything, where micropenis caused one being insecure and taken back during intercourse micropenis surgery improves confidence!

The safest micropenis treatment is a fat transfer surgery where fat cells are removed from certain body areas and reinjected in the penile shaft which makes the penis look bigger in both length and girth.

Micropenis treatment by release of the suspensory ligament is also another popular surgical treatment option for micropenis. It depends on dividing the penile suspensory ligament which connects the penis with the pubic bone.  This surgery gives a significant increase in length but comes at the expense of stability. Thoroughly discuss all the pros and cons of this surgery for your case with the treating physician! Out experts at Bedaya Hospital are always there to answer any of your questions if you might consider any of these procedures.
